Many McU students are now using Whyville.net to learn, explore and just plain have fun! Due to last week’s parent meetings, the moms and dads are on board with us and ready to play or let play. The great thing about Whyville is that it is more than just a game. It was developed on a science grant and its sponsors are groups like the Center for Disease Control, University of Texas, Bankinter (a bank from Spain) and NASA. Whyville offers a safe monitored area to learn about online chat, virtual worlds, science, math and more. If you haven’t been on, you should check it out!

I have been playing with several cool new tools this week. The first extremely helpful tool is Pageflakes. It is an aggregator, which means it allows you to put all the things you like to use best on one web page. Here is mine. Mrs. Alvarado’s Pageflake
My next new favorite thing is Classroom 2.0. It is part of the NING social network. Many really smart teachers share their expertise about using technology in education. My page is here. My Classroom 2.0 page
