We have another busy week in kindergarten!

A few notes for this week:

* Field trip money needs to be returned on Thursday.

* Wednesday is a late start, but there is NO school for kindergartners!

* Spring picture day is on Thursday April 26th. Look sharp! :)

Our learning goals for this week are:

Reading:  Content Objectives:

Can you identify words that begin or end with -wh, -ch, and -sh?

Can you identify the difference between an informational and narrative text?

Can you use punctuation to enhance phrasing?

Can you read text as the author would say it?

I hope everyone had a wonderful week off!  A few reminders for parents and students:

Snack:  our fruit grant is over and students will need to bring in a healthy snack to have in the afternoon.

Reading bags need to be brought to school each day.

We have another very busy week ahead of us in kindergarten!

Late start on Wednesday. First bell rings at 9:35 am.

Math and reading bags need to be brought to school everyday.
Weekly homework packet will be sent home on Monday. Please return on Thursday.
We have snack daily at around 2:45, please send in a healthy snack with your child.

Reading:   Can you read using the onset and rime in a word? Can you sound out a word? Can you identify words that begin -wh, -ch, and -sh?

Math: Can you count and write to 30? Can you solve subtraction problems up to 5? Up to 10? Can you work with a partner to create and draw  subtraction and addition story problems?

Science:   What are the materials in soil? How can we make rocks in our classroom? How do scientists make observations? What tools do they use?

Social Studies:    Can you create a map of your  bedroom? Can you create a map of Oakman for next year’s kindergartners?

Writing:  Can you identify the beginning , middle, and end of your story? Can you add details to your writing/pictures? Can you take a stand in your writing?

Egg Hunt

Dear Kindergarten Families,

In math and social studies we are reviewing counting and using maps.  On Thursday, April 5th, our students will be having an “egg” hunt to find Easter eggs filled with candy!

We need donations of:

Ø     Plastic Easter Eggs (can be found at dollar stores)

Ø     Miniature candy (please be sure it is individually bagged).

Please note that we will be sharing the candy brought in so one bag per child is plenty! J

Items should be sent in by Wednesday morning.
