Mrs. Caito’s Class News

Our oral demonstrations were great!  We learned how to do many things and it was obvious that the children had practiced and were well prepared.  Don’t forget to send in a can of fruit!  We will use the cans to measure circumference and enjoy eating the fruit at our fruit fest on Wednesday.  Any cans left over will be donated to the Elks holiday food drive.  Notes went home about our November-December book report.  It is due on December 11th.  Also, look for a note about our gingerbread cottages that we will be creating on December 3.

We had a great Halloween on Friday! Thank you to everyone who helped with the party, sent something in or came to see everyone in their Halloween costumes. Wasn’t it a beautiful day?!

Our November newsletter is coming home this week. We have a lot going on. On Thursday, we have our Boxtop/Soup label ice cream sundae courtesy of the PTA. Thank you very much!! Also, thank you for sending in all those boxtops and labels that helped us win the October contest.

October Reading logs are due in by Thursday. November reading logs came home on Monday. On Friday, we are having a Social Studies test. Please look for the book to be coming home this week.

We have completed the MEAP tests.  Thank you for sending your child prepared to do his/her best work!  Also, thank you to our Homeroom Moms for sending in a breakfast snack for each student each morning we took the MEAP test.

Our book report is due on October 27th.  Picture Day is October 30th with retakes scheduled for December 11th.  We will be having our Halloween Parade and party on Friday afternoon.  We hope to see you at our parade!

Welcome back!  I hope everyone enjoyed last week.  We are reviewing Science Chapter 1 this week and will be having our test on Friday.  Please make sure that your child keeps recording the times they read every day on their Book-It sheet.

Coming up next week–the MEAP test.  We will begin the math portion of Tuesday morning!

The Book Fair is this week!  Our class will be checking out the Book Fair on Monday and we will go back and make our purchases on Wednesday.  Also, this week don’t forget to have your child go to www.studyisland.com.   All students know how to log in and what their password is.  It is a great way to review concepts taught in 2nd grade.

We will be starting our regular schedule this week.  A note went home on Friday letting you know our schedule for gym, art, music and literacy.  Please look for spelling words to come home on Wednesday.  Also, please get in the habit of checking your child’s student planner every day.  Together, we will make this a great year!
