PROGRESS REPORTS!

I’m sorry to report that your reports were not ready today.  The substitute will be passing them out tomorrow.

BUT … you will earn extra credit if you log in to Student Connect tonight, create and print your own progress report, ask your mom or dad to sign it, and return it to school.

2nd and 5th hours … click below to see the answers to “Not Your Cheese” if you want to redo that HW assignment.

Composition books are due on Monday.

Here is a handy list of all the pages you should have so far:

page 1 – What is better than Justin Bieber?

page 2 – Who do you think will win the Super Bowl?

page 3 – Describe what you will be like when you are elderly.

page 4 – Describe the perfect camp.  (HINT: the opposite of Camp Green Lake)

(and don’t say Camp Dearborn – use your imagination!)

page 5 – Do you believe in curses?

page 6 – FREE WRITE

Our school doesn’t have a drug problem.  Our school has a seeds problem!

BW:  Quietly re-read chapter 5 of HOLES.  Review and add to your “BAD BOYS” CW sheet as you read.

CW:  Choose a chapter and answer the chapter questions on loose leaf.

  • Chapter 3 = A+
  • Chapter 4 = B
  • Chapter 1 = C
  • Chapter 2 = D

Please copy each question and restate each answer.  All answers are in the book!  I promise.

HW:  NONE :)

I am so proud of you guys!  I am honored to be your teacher.

You have been working hard, and you really deserve this spring break that’s coming soon.

HOWEVER …

Mrs. Younes has made it very clear that we are not allowed to have parties in class.

Therefore, I do not want to SEE or HEAR any nutritional morsels or liquid refreshments in class tomorrow.

It is supposed to be 46 degrees tomorrow.  Still kinda chilly.  You MIGHT need a baggy jacket or coat.

WEIRD HOMEWORK!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS HOMEWORK!

Please bring an old cell phone to school tomorrow.

  • It’s OK if the phone does not work.
  • Please do not bring a toy phone unless it LOOKS like a real phone.
  • Do not bring any valuable phones.
  • Your phone MIGHT be displayed in the hallway to go with our persuasive essay about phones in class.
  • You will get your old phone back before the end of the school year.

Please bring your phone to Mister Dobert BEFORE A2 STARTS!  Neatly write your name and hour on the back of a phone.  Use a Sharpie.

“Boy with Orange”  (S.A.R.)

Would you like to be the boy in “Boy with Orange”?

DIRECTIONS:

  • answer on loose leaf
  • follow S.A.R.
  • give 2-3 reasons why you want to be or do not want to be the boy in “Boy with Orange”

PLEASE REMEMBER – All students must complete this homework, even if you don’t want to be the boy.  Keep in mind that girls have an equal chance to be chosen to be the boy in ”Boy with Orange”.

The persuasive essay test starts tomorrow!  (200 points)  I hope you’ve been preparing.

As we discussed in class, you should really study the green hamburger page.

You should also read my robotic dog essay SEVERAL times and study the highlighting/colors/notes.

If you are really bored, you might want to try drafting a persuasive essay but write how REAL dogs are better for the elderly (take the other side).

p.s. I told some of you I might post the new prompt on my blog.  I don’t think that will happen.  It will be better if you see the prompt tomorrow in class.

I am now writing the rest of my persuasive essay about robotic dogs as companions for the elderly.

I really, really, really, really, really don’t want to.

Just being honest.

We have 6 days left in this report card!

Today …

  • I passed out the green hamburger paper.  We changed it a bit.
  • We started our pre-writing on loose leaf.  The pre-writing organizer is VERY IMPORTANT and is worth MANY points!
  • 5th hour started a positive (+) and negative (-) T-chart about real dogs for the elderly.

HW: NONE … but … you MIGHT want to look over the green hamburger paper.  If you are very familiar with the green hamburger, next week’s test will be much easier for you.

(5th HOUR … finish up your T-charts!)

We have 8 days left in this report card!

Several students read their 3 truths, 1 lie to the class.

We continued working on our persuasive essay about canine companions for the elderly.

HW:

  1. Finish up your positive (+) and negative (-) T-charts about real and robotic dogs (2 loose leaves).
  2. Bring your progress report to class tomorrow.  Make sure it’s signed!  You might want to check student connect and print your own progress report at home.
