Remember also that we will have an ALL CAST -ALL PARENT Meeting on Monday 27 October from 6-8.  Mrs. V and I will be available for Parent-Teacher conferences from 4-6pm, then we will have the meeting.  Our costumer will also be there taking measurements, so yes, you are required to be there.

Pick Up Music Before You Leave!

I know… it’s been awhile!

Quick news - new iLearn site for the EFHS Musical is up and has the information you need for auditions! The enrolment key is “Doyle”.  It is NOT the Vocal Music site.

Auditions will be Wed the 17th & Thurs the 18th.  Sign up on the Board outside my room.

I will be out on Monday and Tuesday.  Mom is having surgery, so keep a good thought for her. 

Monday, all classes will do the “Music Fundamentals” Test.  Yes, you have probably taken it before.  When you start getting 100% on it, I will stop giving it to you.  This one will be for a GRADE!

Tuesday, Mr. Haury will run rehearsals with Sight Reading and new pieces.

Practice the Interval Warm-up!  I will start spot testing on that soon.

We’re back from the Magic Kingdom and have to face reality!  Not to mention the shock of going from 85 and sunny to 18 and snow, we have to face school tomorrow!

Many thanks to all our parents and chaperones who attended our trip activities, especially, Miss Hurst, Miss Levine, Mr. and Mrs. Mattern, Mrs. Davies, Miss Davies, Mr. and Mrs. Candea and Tina!, Mr. and Mrs. Denyer and Mr. V.  You were all great and we truly appreciate all your help!  My mother had a wonderful time on the trip and I sincerely appreciate all you did to make it fun for all of us!

Huge thanks to our tour guide Larry and New Horizons.  They anticipated our every need and really helped to make things run smoothly.

An enormous “HATS OFF!” to Mrs. V, without whose organization and patience this trip would never have happened.  Make sure you seek her out to say “THANK YOU!”

We have had nothing but compliments of the attitude and behavior of our students.  It just goes to reinforce my feeling that not only do we have fine musicians at EFHS, we also have great young people who are going to turn out to be exemplary citizens in the future.

A reminder for VE, Concert Choir and Men’s Ensemble that there will be Sight Reading help after school  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30-3:30.  All three are not required, but I certainly expect to see students at 2 out of the 3 session - MINIMUM.

It is expected that ALL students ride to the Festival and return to EFHS on the buses.

We could still use more parent chaperones for the day.  Please let me know if you are able to assist.  Thanks!

I have received confirmation that we WILL perform in the afternoon on Thursday 6 March 2008 at the Dearborn Ford Performing Arts Center.  Parents and families are welcome!  We will need a few parents to accompany us on the bus ride over.  Please let me know if you are available!

Hello all -

 Please note the updated information/practice tracks for our upcoming Choral Festival.  I have NOT been given a final decision on whether we are performing on Thursday 6 March or not.  I will let you know as soon as I am notified.

PLEASE be sure that parts are ready and POLISHED by Monday.

Dr. Jerry Blackstone from the University of Michigan will be coming to work with our Choirs on Tuesday 26 February.  He is an Internationally recognized and dynamic conductor and musician, and we are THRILLED to be able to have him visit EFHS!

…I just HAD to write that…

I hope you are all enjoying these last hours of break!  Palm Springs was beautiful today and will be even better tomorrow, but if it is any consolation, they had snow flurries for the first time in a hundred years.  Mother Nature knew I was coming…

Please be sure to plan for the extra rehearsals Monday and Tuesday after school this week for VE, Concert Choir and the newly formed Men’s Ensemble.  They are REQUIRED.

Pre-Festival Concert is Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.

Not a great many students are utilizing the iLearn site.  I will expect that music is COMPLETELY learned when we meet on Monday.
