All Classes:  You will notice some changes and the pace will pick up as we complete our understanding of the Grade Level Content Expectations (GLC’s) and advance our skills.  Students are growing more and more responsible and knowledgeable  as we move through these courses.   Please make a new Table of Contents and place this in your folder–be sure to find out the changes when you return to class.  Portfolio folders must be in class everyday and will be collected at week 5 for a pass/fail grade worth 20% of your grade, since this is work we are doing to learn the new material.  (Work works!) Thanks for keeping your work organized on a daily basis in your folder.    Please show your parents the folders when they ask to see your work.  There will be “Soda” Quizzes instead of “Pop” quizzes–so please pay attention in  class and do the assigned reading.  Please learn the current vocabulary, spelling and definitions of the current chapters so you understand the concepts we are learning.

7th grade:  Study Vocab and be ready for a quiz…spelling counts on vocab! World Religions research is ongoing–2 handouts including a map and timeline dicussed.   Mini-research project on the ABC’s of world religions started and will be completed in the library. ( A few students will be finishing for homework.)   Maps and timelines are colored in, as well this week.   Another mini-research project on the Classical Empires is introduced as we continue.  Students are working in groups–if you are absent, you must talk with your group members for your portion, of course.  More library internet time will be provided for research, but you may need some time to work on this for home study. A suggested and enjoyable link to spend time on is found at the link on the right: mrdonn.org for ancient history info.

8th grade:    Power Point Projects were assigned and explained.  We’ll be going to the library on Wednesday to work on them.   “Know Before You Go” what you will be looking for.  We made 5  graphic organizers and are filling them in as we read chapter 10,  the Age of Jefferson.  We used the library this week for research on our mini-power-point projects.  Please be sure to come prepared with paper, pens, pencils, erasers, red pens etc.  every day.  Thanks!  Complete your vocabulary study sheets (and study them for chapter 10).  We completed the Essentials for Chapter 10 together and took a “Buddy Quiz” and are keeping up our TOC’s.   Don’t forget that there have been practice questions on the blog as well as practice tests at prenticehall.com to prepare for Tuesday’s quiz. Use QAR with page #s to complete the chapter 10 review in the text book (due Tuesday before test). Power Point Presentations for Chapter 10 are due Monday (please no exceptions, since the assessment is Tuesday.) Have a super weekend, super students!

    Hi Aliah,
Thanks for writing. Keep the words, for the most part, fix the overburdened slides when necessary, and add pictures, graphics and if you can, animations. (Everyone’s skill level and expertise with ppt differs, so this is an attempt to develop them, as well as presentation skills needed for many careers, someday :) . ) It wasn’t meant to be difficult, and it will help everyone learn the History, especially of the era they are presenting. Your question helps others to understand, so thanks, again :) .

  3. Hi Mrs. Harper,
I just remembered today to finish my powerpoint and I was glad to remember. However, I went on my laptop, my house computer, and and my moms laptop and none of them have microsoft powerpoint or any type of powerpoint maker. I tried downloading the free trial on my laptop and it wouldn’t work. Tomorrow I will by going to by dad’s house and I know I have powerpoint there. Do you think that I turn in my powerpoint tuesday so I can do it please. Im really sorry :(
