I hope everyone had an awesome time during break. I had a great break, but I’m still glad to be back!
The posters turned out really well. I’m quite pleased with them. All your hard work and effort really payed off. The look so good adorning our 7th grade hallway. Nice job!
It’s back to basics as we tackle section 25-3. Today in class we read the section and worked on the corrosponding 25-3 worksheet (due next time we meet) with a partner.
We then checked our 25-1 and 25-2 worksheet as a class. Remember: it’s your responsibility to make sure you have made the necessary corrections.
Lastly, we reinforced what we learned in class by watching a information video about South Asia. It’s nice to see what the places you’re learning about look like. Hope you enjoyed it!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
We start off our week with an exciting project. The class was broken into six groups. Each group was assigned a “lesser known” country in Asia, such as Cambodia, Taiwan, Laos, Mongolia, Mylasia, and Indonesia. The students then looked up important facts about the countries. The facts include: flag, population, religions, natural resources, major industries, languages, political system, currency, ethnic groups, capital city, and location (relative and absolute). Each group had a two laptop computers to seach the internet. They were also incouraged to use their textbooks. The information will be placed on a 4′ by 3′ poster to be displayed in the 7th grade hallway! They students are also assessed on how well they work with their fellow groupmates.
It should be fun!
Today we will be working on Section 25-1 and 25-2 in our text book. We read the sections as a whole group. The students worked in groups on the corresponding worksheets, 25-1 and 25-2. Due Monday.
The class also watched a 15 minute video about Southeast Asia, as an introduction to the region.
Today in class we checked the Chapter 24 Review.
The class independently read section 25-1, and was assigned section 25-1 review # 1-4. (Due 2/8 or 2/9, depending on when we meet).
With the few remaining minutes, groups got a chance to finish up their Asia poster.
You have the day off! I hope you enjoy it!
First off, congrats to the Peyton Manning and the Colts on finally winning the “Big One.”
Today in class the students continued their group assignment. The Asia posters are coming along nicely!
Students worked on Chapter Review and Assessment on textbook pages 462 and 463. They completed the following:
1) Reviewing Key Terms numbers 1-5.2) Reviewing the Main Ideas number 1-7.
3) Map activity numbers 1-7
The class watched and took notes on a 13 minute video introducing East Asia.
The class was divided into 6 groups. Using Asia Today newspapers, each group was in charge of finding information about a specific country in Asia (China, Japan, India, Korea, Vietnam, and the Philipines).
The information will be placed on a poster and displayed in our classroom. The project will be completed on Monday.
