Today was a lot of fun for me! Each and every one of my student drew a picture of a Moai statue from Easter Island. Some of them were incredibly detailed and some of them were, well, really great efforts! Either way, I feel that the classes really enjoyed drawing the mysterious statues. We let the class vote to see when one they thought was the best one. The following are the winners from each class period:
1st hour: Bridgette A.
3rd hour: Tyler B.
4th hour: Haley B.
6th hour: Ahmed H.
After our little art contest we check over yesterday’s assignment, Chapter 29 Review. Make sure you save the work. You can use it to study from for any upcoming assessments.
No homework today. Enjoy your evening!

As a wrap-up for chapter 29 the students completed some reinforcement work on pages 562-563. In class most completed Reviewing Key Terms, Reviewing the Main Idea, and the map activity. If by chance you didn’t finish, complete it tonight for homework.
Our discussion focused around Easter Island and it’s many mysterious Moai statues. We watched a 3 minute video about the Moai and discussed our theories on how they came to be. Interesting thoughts from the minds of my 7th graders:)
Our Easter Island discussion will continue tomorrow.

SOME BUSINESS: End of the year party permission slips went out today! They are due by Wednesday, filled out by parents with $4.00. Don’t forget!
Today we began class with a two-sided bell-work activity. On the first side was a map of the Pacific Realm and it’s many islands, followed by some questions to be answered using the map. Once finished, the students flip over the map to see a word search activity. They were to find the names of many of the more popular Pacific Islands.
After that we watched a five minute video about the Pacific regions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The video was packed full of information about about the island makeup and natural resources found within.
We then moved on to page 558 and read about the Pacific Island’s Geographic Factors and Natural Resources. This section reinforced the information that the video shared.
No homework tonight. It’s always a good idea, however, to read the section of the day over again.
HAVE A GOOD EVENING! GO WINGS! GO PISTONS! GO TIGERS!
