Welcome to Multimedia.

Dearborn Schools Acceptable Use Guidelines

Please read these rules and understand that we will be following them absolutely.
Please return the signed parent letter in order to proceed with on-line activities.

Course description and standards and benchmarks are posted on the main “Mrs. Elliott Computers” Web Page.

Recommended supplies:

Earphones will be quite essential and can be bought at a dollar store. It will be important for students to have them for accessing tutorials on-line, editing and downloading music or movies. Because we will use them every day, they will be locked in a cupboard here in room 222. Do not bring your “good” headphones.

2 music CDs to import into iTunes. These must be legally purchased CDs with no offensive language in the lyric. I will have a few CDs in class for students who do not have music cds. This music will be used for future projects. CDs will go home after they are downloaded into iTunes.

personal flash drive is recommended but not required. They can be found in many stores or online for around $10. Flash drives are essential for moving content from one computer to another. I will supply a small number of flash drives for students who are unable to bring one.

Students will be taking photographs for class. They may choose to use a camera from home with your permission. It will be locked in a cupboard in the computer lab (room 222) until the project is complete. Students may NOT use cell phone cameras.

Activity 1: “Ways to Find Information Independently”

Directions for assignments are in iLearn

Due Friday, Feb. 6. If you are not happy with your score on this activity, you may complete it after school in the lab, at home, or at the library using the links to Atomic Learning on this page. Ask Mrs. Elliott for the Username and Password. (Thanks to Mr. Shader at Bryant for this activity)

Watch the movie and answer these questions. Restate and use a complete sentence.

Why did people help the robot?

Have you ever helped someone you didn’t know? Who was it and what did you do?

Designer Kacie Kinzer explores what technology can reveal about empathy and cooperation. So she built a Tweenbot, a cardboard robot equipped only with cuteness and a flag that says help me to elicit help from passersby. With the help of 29 strangers, the tiny robot crossed NYCs Washington Square Park in just 42 minutes.
