Peanut-Free Zone

One of our kindergarten friends has a severe peanut allergy. Since the three kindergarten classes frequently combine for activities and play, all three classrooms have been designated “Peanut-Free Zones”.
During lunch, a table will be designated “peanut-free”.
What this means is that, for lunch, your child may continue to bring his/her favorite foods, including peanut butter and jelly.
During snack, however, we are asking the other children NOT to bring peanut/peanut butter snacks into the classroom. Some snack alternatives are fruits, vegetables, cheese sticks, yogurt, and fruit snacks.
The peanut-free zone will also impact the sharing of treats for birthdays.
As soon as we have more information from the family and our school nurse, I will update all of you.
Thank you for helping us keep this child and all children safe while in our care.

I Can’t Wait to Meet All of You!

School begins on Tuesday, September 7th at 8:35am.
I will meet all of you on the sidewalk outside of our classroom. We’ll line up and head into the class together. Moms and Dads will say their good-byes and are invited to enjoy some coffee and tea in the cafeteria courtesy of the Snow PTA.
That Tuesday is a half-day for the students. Dismissal is at 11:45am. The students will be lined up on the sidewalk outside of our classroom for pick-up.

We could win $10,000 for classroom technology through Digital Wish and the Pepsi Refresh Project!
In September, Pepsi is giving away $250,000 to the charity that receives the most votes. If Digital Wish wins, we will give the proceeds to over 500 US classrooms. The teachers that help Digital Wish generate the most votes will be awarded the largest grants, which can be up to $10,000!

We received notification today from Dr. Klee that children are not to bring backpacks to school for the remainder of the school year.
Please send only a lunch box (if having a packed lunch) to class. All notes will be sent home in your child’s folder.

Book are due!

All library books and any books brought home in the reading bag should be returned to school on Monday.
If you cannot locate the book(s), please let me know.

Field Trip

We have a field trip scheduled for Thursday, June 3rd to the Detroit Science Center. The cost is $6 per child or chaperone. Children and chaperones should bring a bagged lunch.
I apologize for the rushed nature of this trip. We had a bus scheduled but were unable to confirm our reservation until late last Thursday. On Friday, you should have received a white note/permission slip at pick-up. The money and permission slips are now due!
Please consider being a chaperone. At this time, we have no chaperones for our class. With no chaperones, our class will not be able to attend the field trip. If you are able to volunteer, please let me know and send your $6 to class. Thank you in advance if you’re able to help us.

Doughnuts for Dads

Music Concert Tonight!

Just a reminder that the kindergarten music concert is tonight, Thursday, May 27th.
The children should arrive in their classrooms at 5:15pm. Family members will take their seats in the gym.
Our performance will begin at 5:30pm and should last for about 30 minutes.
Children are asked to dress in nice spring/summer clothes.

Raffle Basket

Tomorrow (Friday, May 28th) is the last day to submit items for our class raffle basket. Our theme is coffee and tea.
Thank you to the families who have already contributed. Your generosity supports the efforts of the PTA to provide all of our students with a variety of activities at little or no cost to families.
