There have been several emails I have gotten over the past couple of weeks regarding setting up blogs for districts. We use a program called Wordpress MU (multi-user). This program allows people with a particular email address to sign up and create a blog. The biggest benefit is that ANY AND ALL staff members for our district can create a web presence in as little as 10 minutes. I am looking at upgrading our Blog system over the summer to include LDAP Authentication. This will allow a “single Login” for both iLearn and iBlog. This helps eliminate a teacher having to remember too many passwords. Ilearn is already connected to LDAP, but currently our blogging system is not. Hopefully after the summer we will be able to bring blogging up to speed with the rest of the web applications we are using.

Yesterday, 2/28/07, marked a milestone in iLearn use. We had over 12,000 logs. Normally we hover around 5,000 on a slow day and average about 8,000 on most days. There was a lot of activity on the server and no reports of a slow down coming from the new server.
This is great news. Hopefully this will continue. I know we had about 50 new courses created over the Monday PD day, so this may be those new teachers using iLearn and experimenting with their new digital classrooms.
